//History was made at the LGBT Community Center on Aug. 14 when Seth Marnin, a widely-respected lawyer, was sworn in as a New York Court of Claims judge, making him the first out trans man to serve as a judge in the United States and the first out trans judge in New York State….

Marnin invoked the transphobia sweeping the nation when he stepped to the podium and delivered remarks after he was sworn in. Marnin recalled speaking five years ago at a rally led by his rabbi, Sharon Kleinbaum, who had organized a community gathering in response to one of the many moves by the Trump administration to attack trans rights — “a precursor to what we’re seeing today,” Marnin said.//

No one hates women more than TERFs. No one.

Honestly…lots of people (your average sexist men, MRAs, evangelicals, fundies of all stripes, etc.) hate women as much as TERFs but truly, no one hates women more. They are are misogynistic as misogyny comes.

If I was in a hypothetical scenario where I was required to spend an hour talking about the topic of gender w/ one of two people who I knew nothing about except one is a feminist and one is a trans woman, I would ALWAYS choose to talk to the trans woman. By my personal assessment and lived experience, there’s a 99.99% chance that a trans woman is gonna say shit I can learn from and appreciate about gender and will probably make me even happier to share womanhood with her. But if all I know is that the woman is a feminist, she MAY end up being a TERF and therefore coming into this make believe gender convo w/ such warped misogynistic bullshit and such shit takes that I may end up stabbing her.

hi if I am offered an insight on an issue i prefer to listen to the male individual than to the female one, I am very progressive :3

Looks like someone not only missed the point of the post entirely, but also proved it right in the same sentence.

Love when a terf shows up and makes it real clear how fucking stupid terfs are.

I was w/ one of my cats earlier at the vet (she’s fine!) when this occurred so I wasn’t paying full attention. But now I am. And how sadly hilarious is it that in what…lesssss than an hour?? a terf probably trolling tags to stir shit up made my point for me far better than I ever could.

I couldn’t have…like WOW. How helpful for my thesis here, I guess. A work of art, really.

We all have a responsibility to fight to end all pipelines.

ID: An illustration of a snake made up of a broken oil pipeline. The breaks create room for text in the centre of the image, reading ‘No fucking pipelines ever’. Underneath the snake it says, ‘Indigenous rights over corporate greed’.

Does anyone like the American two party system? The parties are opaque, private organizations, weak institutions that are prone to capture and corruption, and gerrymandering’s “safe seats” means that the real election often takes place in the party’s smoke-filled rooms, when a sure-thing candidate is selected:

https://doctorow.medium.com/weak-institutions-a26a20927b27

But there doesn’t seem to be any way to fix it. For one thing, the two parties are in charge of any reform, and they’re in no hurry to put themselves out of business. It’s effectively impossible for a third party to gain any serious power in the USA, and that’s by design. After the leftist Populists party came within a spitting distance of power in the 1890s, the Dems and Repubs got together and cooked the system, banning fusion voting and erecting other structural barriers.

The Nader and Perot campaigns were doomed from the outset, in other words. Either candidate could have been far more popular than the D and R on the ballot, and they still would have lost. It’s how the deck is stacked, and to unstack it, reformers would need to take charge of at least one – and probably both – of the parties.

But that’s not cause for surrender – it’s a call to action. In an interview with Seymour Hersh, Thomas Frank (Listen, Liberal) sets out another locus of power, one with the potential to deliver control over the party to its base: social movements:

Ang Quan is said to be a style practiced by the people of Zhuang ethnic group in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is also known as one of the old traditional styles of boxing, or “Ancestor of Southern Boxing”, tracing back to its usage in the military during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).This wartime military form of martial art has been practiced and passed down by Zhuang villagers and was considered to be a lost art that was recently rediscovered.
